CAP-IDP Food Distribution Project (WFP)

In 2020, the Services of Women Relieve Center – Afghanistan (SWRCA), in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), implemented the CAP-IDP Food Distribution Project across Qalkah, Anardara, Lashe-Jowain, Farah Center, and Bkwa districts. The project aimed to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable families struggling with food insecurity due to conflict and crises.

Objectives

  • To provide immediate food support to displaced and crisis-affected families.

  • To improve household nutrition and reduce the risk of malnutrition.

  • To strengthen household resilience and stability during emergency conditions.

Activities

  • Targeting & Registration: SWRCA identified and registered 1,279 vulnerable IDP families through a transparent and accountable beneficiary selection process.

  • Food Distribution: A total of 6,744 metric tons of food commodities were distributed, covering essential dietary needs of households.

  • Community Awareness: Beneficiaries were informed about their entitlements, distribution schedules, and complaint mechanisms to ensure fairness and accountability.

Achievements

  • 1,279 families received life-saving food assistance during a critical period.

  • Improved nutrition and household food security, particularly for women and children.

  • Strengthened community trust in humanitarian partners through transparent and fair delivery.

Impact

The project significantly reduced hunger and food insecurity among displaced and vulnerable households. By improving nutrition and supporting family resilience, the intervention helped stabilize communities during a time of crisis and contributed to protecting livelihoods and preserving dignity.

This initiative reflects SWRCA’s continued commitment to delivering humanitarian assistance, supporting IDPs, and addressing food security challenges in Afghanistan.
