Quilt / Jacket Weaving Project (UNHCR)
In 2003, the Services of Women Relieve Center for Afghanistan (SWRCA), in collaboration with UNHCR (Sub-Office Herat), implemented a Quilt and Jacket Weaving Project in Farah Center. The project aimed to empower women-headed households by providing vocational skills, improving household income, and promoting socio-economic reintegration.
Objectives

To provide women-headed households with skills in quilt and jacket weaving, production techniques, and hygiene practices.

To increase household income through the production and sale of woven products.

To strengthen women’s confidence, decision-making, and active participation in household and community life.
Activities

Skills Training: Trained 360 female-headed households in carpet and quilt weaving techniques, production quality, and hygiene standards.

Material Support: Provided raw materials to enable beneficiaries to immediately apply their skills and begin production.

Community Engagement: Encouraged women to participate in income-generating activities and enhance their role within their households and communities.

Impact
