Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability

Communities across Afghanistan face increasing vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. The Service Women Relieve Center for Afghanistan (SWRCA) is committed to fostering environmental sustainability and building resilience by supporting communities to adapt, conserve, and thrive in the face of ecological challenges.

Key initiatives include:

  • Community-Based Natural Resource Management and Conservation: SWRCA engages communities in the sustainable management of land, water, and other natural resources, ensuring long-term ecological balance and local ownership of conservation efforts.

  • Reforestation and Afforestation Campaigns: Through planting trees and restoring degraded lands, SWRCA works to combat deforestation, improve soil quality, and strengthen ecosystems vital for livelihoods and climate resilience.

  • Promotion of Renewable Energy Solutions: We support the adoption of clean energy alternatives, such as solar power, to reduce dependence on nonrenewable resources and enhance access to sustainable energy in rural areas.

  • Training on Climate-Smart Agricultural Practices: SWRCA provides guidance to farmers on sustainable farming techniques that increase productivity while reducing environmental impact, helping communities adapt to changing climatic conditions.

  • Raising Awareness on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation: Through workshops, campaigns, and community engagement, SWRCA educates communities about the causes and impacts of climate change, and the strategies they can adopt to protect their environment and livelihoods.

These efforts collectively safeguard ecosystems, strengthen community resilience, and promote sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that future generations inherit a healthier and more secure environment.
