Child Protection Guidelines

At the Services of Women Relieve Center–Afghanistan (SWRCA), the safety and well-being of children is our top priority. We are committed to creating an environment where every child is protected, respected, and supported to grow and thrive free from abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

What Do We Mean by Child Protection?

  • Child: Any person under the age of 18 years.

  • Child Abuse: Any act—or failure to act—that causes physical, emotional, or psychological harm to a child. This includes physical abuse, neglect, emotional harm, sexual exploitation, or any action that threatens a child’s healthy development.

  • Child Protection: The responsibility and commitment to safeguard children from harm—whether intentional or unintentional—and to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment.

Our Commitment

SWRCA is dedicated to:

  • Ensuring the welfare and best interests of children are always paramount.

  • Creating a safe and positive environment where all children—regardless of age, ability, gender, language, culture, ethnicity, religion, or identity—are treated with dignity and respect.

  • Taking all reasonable steps to protect children from harm, discrimination, and exploitation.

  • Supporting our staff and volunteers with training, tools, and guidance to recognize risks and respond effectively to child protection concerns.

  • Working closely with parents, communities, and relevant authorities to safeguard the rights and safety of every child.

Our Organizational Promise

At SWRCA, we believe that protecting children is everyone’s responsibility. Through our programs, policies, and partnerships, we ensure that children remain safe, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
